Cleaning Wrought Iron Doors
We are all more aware than ever before of the critical nature of keeping everything as clean as possible these days. Therefore, continue reading to learn how to keep your wrought iron door clean and in good condition.
Begin by cleansing with a mild cleanser and a soft, lint-free cloth. Combine liquid castile soap or a vegetable-based soap with a touch of water to make a homemade cleaner. Soak the cloth in the soap mixtures and wipe your doors down gently. The rust on your doors should begin to peel away easily.
After cleaning your door with your soap mixture, thoroughly rinse it with a hose. Any remaining soap residue may leave an unsightly residue on your wrought iron doors.
When wiping down your iron doors, be careful not to allow any excess water to dry, as this will encourage the formation of additional rust. Chemicals and abrasive minerals in tap water can discolor and damage your doors.
After thoroughly cleaning your doors, use a cloth or sponge to completely dry them. By evaporating any remaining moisture, you can ensure that your custom wrought iron doors remain stain- and damage-free.
Depending on the climate in your area, you may need to take a few extra precautions to keep your iron doors looking beautiful all year. For instance, if you live near the coast, you should oil your iron door’s hinges on a monthly basis. If doors are not properly cared for and maintained on a regular basis, salt water air can corrode them.
