What are Access Control Systems?
There are three different kinds of ACS:
- Mandatory Access Control Systems (MAC)
- Discretionary Access Control Systems (DAC)
- Role-Based Access Control Systems (RBAC)
A Mandatory Access Control system is the highest level of access control, typically used in government and/or military installations. Security policies are put in place for degrees of access. Role-Based Access Control is the most favorable access control system due to its level of security and budget friendly price.
Using this control system, users are able to set security preferences. The lowest level of access control is a Discretionary Access Control system. Similar to the Role-Based Access Control, users are free to set their security preferences using the Discretionary Access Control.
